The focus for this month’s OEC blog is the annual Oxford Christmas Light Festival. The festival consists of a variety of Christmas light events and activities all around Oxford. One of the main events is a lantern parade in the center of the city.

 

今回のオックスフォード・イングリッシュ・センター（ＯＥＣ）ブログは、毎年恒例のクリスマスライトフェスティバルです。このフェスティバルは、オックスフォード周辺の様々なクリスマスライトイベントやアクティビティで構成されています。主なイベントの１つは、市内中心部でのランタンパレードです。

 

Another feature of the festival is the projection of photographs and films onto Oxford's historic buildings. What a unique idea! The picture below is artwork projected onto the famous Radcliffe Camera.

 

フェスティバルのもう１つの特徴は、オックスフォードの歴史的建造物への写真や映画の投影です。なんてユニークなアイデアでしょう！下の写真は、有名なラドクリフ・カメラに投影されたアートワークです。

 

There are also light trails all over the city. Local businesses and homes are encouraged to decorate their windows, doors, balconies, and gardens for everyone to see!

 

街中にはライトコースもあります。地元の企業や家々は、皆が見られるように窓、ドア、バルコニー、庭を飾ります！

 

Another attraction of the event is the Festival Bus. It tours all around Oxford throughout the event. The bus is decorated and illuminated with lights and stained-glass window designs by City of Oxford College students.

 

イベントのもう１つのアトラクションはフェスティバルバスです。イベント期間中、オックスフォード周辺を回ります。バスは、シティーオブオックスフォードカレッジの学生によるライトとステンドグラスの窓のデザインで装飾され、照らされます。

 

When it started in 2009 the Oxford Christmas Light Festival was a one-day event. Over its ten-year history, the event extended to three days involving more than 25 local partners and more than 27,000 participants. Most events and activities this year were socially distanced in local communities to meet Coronavirus restrictions. Events like the parade were streamed online. ２００９年に始まった時、オックスフォードの街のクリスマスライトフェスティバルは１日のイベントでした。その１０年の歴史の中で、このイベントは２５以上の地元パートナーと２７，０００人以上の参加者が参加する３日間のイベントになりました。今年はコロナウイルスの制約のため、ほとんどのイベントやアクティビティがソーシャルディスタンスに従うローカルな活動でした。パレードのようなイベントはオンラインでストリーミングされました。いつかオックスフォードの街のクリスマスライトフェスティバルを経験したいと思いませんか？
